Palma de Mallorca, March 15, 2026 – Today, the Sometimes Circuit hosted the second round of the Porsche Cup Tamiya, a thrilling day of radio-controlled (RC) racing that saw over 20 drivers battling fiercely on the track.

The event featured three race heats, each consisting of more than 7 drivers, with staggered starts to ensure cleaner and more competitive racing. The level of competition was exceptionally high, with overtakes aplenty as each driver pushed their limits to gain positions.

At the end of the day, the top four finishers were awarded, showcasing a race that was tightly contested right up to the final lap.

The Cars in the Category

The vehicles used in the Porsche Cup are 1:10 scale radio-controlled models, based on the Tamiya TT-01 and TT-02 chassis. These platforms are widely popular in the RC modeling community due to their:

- 4-wheel drive (4WD) shaft-driven transmission

- plastic tub chassis

- independent double wishbone suspension on all four wheels

- 1:10 touring car scale

- electric power with a 540-type motor

For instance, the TT-02 chassis employs a 4WD shaft-driven transmission with the battery and motor positioned longitudinally to enhance stability and balance, along with independent suspension on all wheels. These models are designed for sport racing: robust, simple, and incredibly fun to drive.

Fully STOCK Category

What’s particularly intriguing about this category is the main rule: all cars must be completely stock. This means:

- no upgrades

- no modifications

- everyone uses the same base chassis

And that’s the beauty of the Porsche Cup: victory goes not to the one who spends the most on upgrades or tuning, but to the driver who truly masters their machine. The difference is made by skill, racing lines, and consistency, just like in real motorsport.

RCGrig at the Awards Ceremony

We at RCGrig also participated in the awards ceremony by contributing a special prize. We awarded the 4th place finisher from all three heats with a custom t-shirt made specifically for the event, a small recognition for those who just missed the podium but still delivered a great performance. It’s a way to celebrate the spirit of competition and community.

And now… get ready

The second round confirmed how fun, competitive, and accessible this category is for all RC modeling enthusiasts. But it doesn’t end here.

πŸ”₯ The next race is already on the horizon… and promises even more battles on the track. Keep your TT-01 and TT-02 ready, check your batteries, and train your thumbs… because the next round will be even more intense. πŸπŸš—
